Beautiful Charlotte County

So Much to See and Do

Charlotte County is home to three distinct areas, each with its own flavor of places to go and things to do. Check out Englewood, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda for a variety of pleasures Southwest Florida has to offer.

County Highlights

Englewood/El Jobean

Manasota Key Beach ~ About 15 minutes up Route 776 from the Festival grounds is beautiful Manasota Key. Turn left onto Beach Road and follow to the end, bearing right at the circle. Beach is on your left. Across the street from eateries and shopping, the beach features white sand, blue waters and gorgeous sunsets.

Port Charlotte

Bayshore Live Oak Park/Charlotte County Historical Museum ~ Heading south on U.S. 41, take a right on Bayshore Road (just before the bridge south to Punta Gorda) and enjoy the scenic drive along the water. A big park on your left features covered cooking, restrooms and a pier for enjoying the view. Just beyond the park is the county Historical Museum. Pop in to see the latest display.

Punta Gorda

Gilchrist Park ~ Another beautiful spot from which to view the sunset, Gilchrist Park boasts a gazebo and 2 pavilions that serve as home to musicians of all stripes, every Thursday night ~ sunset to whenever. Dubbed the Punta Gorda Guitar Army, Steve Blackwell was in fact an early member (be sure to check out the plaque on the gazebo entrance) of this event that for years has drawn musicians from miles around for a weekly jam and all-around good time.
